Confirmation/First Communion
Communion is the culmination of the sacraments of initiation.
Before a child is led to the Eucharistic table, the baptism is
confirmed. Confirmation is celebrated within the Mass where the
children receive their first Communion. Requesting Confirmation/First Communion:
Parents ask for Confirmation/First Communion when they are ready to prepare with their children. Parents are supported as they share their faith and the faith of the church with their children in the prepation time.
Process:
A Sacramental preparation programme is planned each year. This is advertised through the church and school newsletters. Parents are asked to come to adult meetings beofre they enrol their child/children and then participate in the preparation sessions and the celebration of the sacraments.
In line with Diocesan guidelines, children are asked to learn about God who forgives, whom we then celebrate in the Sacrament of Penance. Opportunity for this is offered before Confirmation/First Communion.
Confirmation/Communion are celebrated usually, on Pentecost Sunday each year. Initial Parent meetings are held in February and the family preparation, one to two months prior to Pentecost.
Preparation for Confirmation/First Communion 2012
Wednesday 15 February: 9am or 7pm: First Parent Meeting to plan the business site of thing. At this meeting you will be asked what date you hope to celebrate Confirmation/Communion and select the 6pm or 8.30am Mass.
Tuesday 24 April: 9am or 7pm: Second Parent Meeting. At this meetings the groups for each programme and celebration will be finalised as well as some background on the Sacraments.
Enrolment of all Children: 6pm Saturday Mass and 8.30am Sunday Mass on the weekend of the 28-29 April.

Confirmation/First Communion 2012
Parents who wish to present their
children for Confirmation/First Communion 2013 are asked to prepare their
children for the Sacrament of Penance in 2012. A time of preparation is offered
through the parish.
